In this blog, we will learn about the Basic Data Formatting Tricks in Excel

1. Adjusting the Width of the Column

To adjust the width of the column follow the steps given below:

1. Select two columns

2. Double-click the column

3. Lastly, you will notice that the column width is adjusted automatically

2. Ctrl + B = to make the cells Bold

1. Select this two cells and press Ctrl + B to make it bold

3. Ctrl + I = to make the cells italic

1. Select this two cells and press Ctrl + I to make it Italic

Note – If you don’t want your cells to be italic then again press Ctrl + I to make it normal

4. Ctrl + U = to underline the cells

1. Select this two cells and press Ctrl + U to underline the cells

5. Ctrl + A = Select the Entire Cell

1. Select the entire cell and press Ctrl + A

6. Add Borders in the Cell

To add Borders in the cell just follow the steps given below:

1. Go to Home Tab

2. Click on Border Dropdown

3. Lastly, click on all borders

4. So here you will get the borders in the entire cell

7. Cell Spacing

If you want to have a space in the cell then follow the steps given below:

1. Select the cell

2. Drag the cursor and extend it

3. Your cell will get a space

8. Alignment of Cell

To properly align your cells follow the steps given below:

1. Go to Home Tab

2. Click on Section Alignment

3. Click on Align Right

4. Lastly, my amount will be shifted to right side in the cell

9. Comma Style in Cell

To make your Amount Column in comma style then follow the steps given below:

1. Choose the numbers

2. Go to Home Tab

3. Now go to Comma Style button and press it

Note – After clicking this button you will see that there are much hashes in the cell. This is because the zero in the cell have increased so to make it into numbers then extend the Amount column

10. Increase or Decrease Decimals in the Cell

To increase or decrease decimals in the cell follow the steps given below:

1. Go to Home Tab

2. Click on Increase or Decrease Decimal button

3. Lastly you will see that there is a change in cell

11. Change the Color of the Header

To change the color of the header follow the steps given below

1. Select the header which you want to color it

1. Go to Home Tab

2. Click on Color icon

3. Pick any color you want to add it in your header

12. Change the Color of the Font

To change the color of the font follow the steps given below:

1. Go to Home Tab

2. Click on Font Color

3. Pick any color you want to change it for your font
